On the pull, whether it be snatch, clean, deadlift; remember the following cues. – Knees slightly OUT and BACK. This along with the other cues below will ensure you are recruiting your posterior chain and lateral hip muscles maximally. To ensure this is occurring in your lift, also keep in mind:
– Butt back and down (be mindful of your butt to make sure you’re not stripper pulling)
– Keep low back muscles locked
– Chest up
– Bar BACK off the floor (LATS!) “For every centimeter the bar goes away from you, count 5 kilos on the bar.” Weightlifting Coach Don McCauley
Use a bar path app to track your bar path to make sure its going back off the floor.
If your coach refuses to implement a bar path app/software to objectively analyze your technique/ S pulls, you need to find a new one- he cares more about his coaching style (ego) than your joint health and success.
