In the beginning

Early Years

Dr. Clark has an extensive background in baseball, football, and olympic weightlifting. A native of Cleveland, Tn; Clark was a local standout in baseball, he batted over .415 as a sophomore in high school. He also played football in high school, his first love. He committed early to Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Ranked 4th in the country by ESPN as a fullback- he played football at both the University of South Carolina as well as Wofford College. He helped Wofford College win a Div. 1-AA Southern conference championship in 2010. Dr. Clark decided to move on to medical school after the NFL lockout in 2011, which led him to Arizona. Dr. Clark competed at local weightlifting meet as a 105 kg in February 2015 where he won first place.

Dr. Clark’s Philosophy on The Future of Healthcare

I moved to Arizona in 2012 to begin my medical school career. My life took a big hit in 2014 when my father passed away from a tortuous battle with cancer.

I look at all the trials and tribulations a lot people go through and it pales in comparison to what a lot of people with cancer are going through. In the months following my father’s passing I began cultivating my ideas for Strength Doctor. I started my ideas for Strength Doctor wanting to give people all of the best tools to build their health up the right way- the most natural and cost effective way; versus tearing their body down with pharmaceuticals and surgeries-like I watched them do to my dad.

I underwent labrum shoulder surgery in February 2007 while playing at the University of South Carolina.  The initial injury occurred during fall training camp and it was a minor injury initially, but it slowly got worse the more I played with it. By the time I had surgery the following winter it was the worst labrum repair our orthopedic surgeon had ever performed. I wish I would have had access to a doctor who did regenerative injections such as PRP back then, I am sure I could have prevented an unnecessary surgery which set my career back over a year.

‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,’ is one of the greatest quotes I have ever heard. “I’d rather prevent disease any day then have to treat it once it is established. It is hard to quantify exactly how many lives are saved and prolonged by the right nutrition, supplementation, and exercise- but we all know this is what we should be doing. We should be building our bodies up, versus tearing them down with bad food, lifestyle choices, and unnatural substances.

Dr. Clark obtained his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. He is currently a licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor (N.M.D.) in the state of Arizona.

PRP helps heal painful areas of tendinopathies and tendonitis:

“Comparison of US scans at the baseline evaluation (A) and after PRP treatment (B).

It can be seen that there is a reduction of Achilles’ tendon thickness and an overall improvement of tendon echo-structure. The patient’s clinical scores were also satisfactory.”

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4212034/

PLRP helps regenerate atrophied spinal muscles and helps decrease spinal degeneration and instability.

“MRI lumbar spine; (a) sagittal view shows L3-4 disc degeneration, (b) axial view of the same patient shows atrophied multifidus on the same level of L3-4 disc degeneration, (c) increased cross-sectional area of lumbar multifidus after 12 months of local intramuscular PLRP injection.”

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4849261/

PRP helps accelerate healing response of Grade 2 muscle injuries.

“A 26-year old man with a grade II muscle injury. (A) Ultrasound image showing the position of the needle (arrow) and a haematoma that has infiltrated the muscle. (B) Ultrasound image showing hyperechoic scar tissue in the site of the injury 2 weeks after the end of the treatment.”

“In all cases muscle lesions healed fully on ultrasound-imaging, the pain disappeared, and muscle function recovery was documented with a return to sports activity.”

HORMONAL BALANCE

SpectraCell Laboratories offers comprehensive male and female hormone panels that reveal the overall state of hormonal balance in a patient.  Like nutrients, hormones influence all aspects of health and disease – mood, sleep, metabolism, immunity, heart health and appearance.  An imbalance of one hormone can initiate cascade of events that alters other hormones, so a comprehensive look at hormone status is key.

Hormones 101

Hormones are chemical messengers that are secreted directly into the blood, which carries them to organs and tissues of the body to exert their functions.  There are many types of hormones that act on different aspects of bodily functions and processes.

Imbalanced hormones can cause the following symptoms:

  • Fatigue
  • Poor brain function/brain fog
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Low libido
  • Difficulty maintaining an erection
  • Blood sugar imbalance
  • Poor tissue repair
  • Aching joints
  • Osteoporosis
  • Hair loss
  • Dry Skin
  • Abnormal weight gain
  • Loss of muscle mass, or difficulty putting on muscle
  • Insomnia
  • Abnormal sweating, night sweats

Symptoms of hormone imbalance also include:

  • Abnormal weight gain
  • Low libido
  • Loss of muscle mass, or difficulty putting on muscle
  • Insomnia
  • Abnormal sweating, night sweats

Thyroid: Thyroid hormones directly regulate every cell in our body as most basic functions like metabolism, emotions and thinking. We also test several proteins that affect thyroid function as well as antibodies to thyroid which can detect autoimmunity (when the immune system attacks healthy tissue) and your levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.

The following are symptoms for hypothyroidism:

  • Fatigue
  • Frequent, heavy menstrual periods
  • Forgetfulness
  • Weight gain
  • Dry, coarse skin and hair
  • Hoarse voice
  • Intolerance to cold

The following are symptoms for hyperthyroidism:

  • Irritability/nervousness
  • Muscle weakness/tremors
  • Infrequent, scant menstrual periods
  • Weight loss
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Enlarged thyroid gland
  • Vision problems or eye irritation
  • Heat sensitivity

Telomere Testing
PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The first commercially available telomere analysis in the United States.

What does Telomere Testing measure?
COMPONENTS

Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal “fraying” when a cell replicates. As a cell ages, its telomeres become shorter. Eventually, the telomeres become too short to allow cell replication, the cell stops dividing and will ultimately die – a normal biological process.

SpectraCell’s Telomere Test analyzes:
  • Lysis of Cells
  • DNA Extraction
  • Amplification

CardioMetabolic Risk

Poor blood sugar regulation and unhealthy triglyceride and lipoprotein levels often present long before a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. SpectraCell’s CardioMetabolic, Pre-Diabetes, and LPP™ Plus Tests offer clinically relevant evaluation to help define risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), progression toward Type 2 Diabetes, and inflammation. These check points, along with a new CardioMetabolic Risk Assessment and Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment, help patients understand that not just one factor, but rather a constellation of factors, contributes to the genesis and progression toward cardiovascular disease including stroke, poor blood glucose control including Type 2 Diabetes, and/ or inflammation. Key components of the CardioMetabolic Test are listed below.

CardioMetabolic Test

  • Lipoprotein Fractionation
  • Lipoprotein Particle Numbers
  • Total Cholesterol
  • HDL Cholesterol
  • LDL Cholesterol
  • Triglycerides
  • hs-CRP
  • Homocysteine
  • Lipoprotein (a)
  • Leptin
  • Apolipoprotein A-1
  • Apolipoprotein B
  • Insulin
  • Glucose
  • Hemoglobin A1c
  • C-peptide
  • Adiponectin

Overview

A complete blood count (CBC) is a blood test used to evaluate your overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia, infection and leukemia. A complete blood count test measures several components and features of your blood, including:

  • Red blood cells, which carry oxygen
  • White blood cells, which fight infection
  • Hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells
  • Hematocrit, the proportion of red blood cells to the fluid component, or plasma, in your blood
  • Platelets, which help with blood clotting

Abnormal increases or decreases in cell counts as revealed in a complete blood count may indicate that you have an underlying medical condition that calls for further evaluation.

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: A comprehensive metabolic panel is a blood test that measures your sugar (glucose) level, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney function, and liver function. Glucose is a type of sugar your body uses for energy. Electrolytes keep your body’s fluids in balance. They also help keep your body working normally, including your heart rhythm, muscle contraction, and brain function. The kidneys help keep the right balance of water, salts, and minerals in the blood. They also filter out waste and other unneeded substances from the blood. The liver helps with digestion and produces some vitamins and other substances that the body needs. It also controls the amounts of glucose, protein, and fat in the blood and releases substances that keep your immune system healthy. This panel measures the blood levels of albumin, blood urea nitrogen, calcium, carbon dioxide, chloride, creatinine, glucose, potassium, sodium, total bilirubin and protein, and liver enzymes (alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and aspartate aminotransferase).

  • Albumin
  • Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN)
  • Calcium
  • Carbon Dioxide (Bicarbonate)
  • Chloride
  • Creatinine
  • Glucose
  • Potassium
  • Sodium
  • Total Bilirubin
  • Total Protein
  • Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT)
  • Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)
  • Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST)

“Gua sha is a traditional East Asian healing technique where the body surface is press-stroked with a smooth-edged instrument to intentionally raise therapeutic petechiae. “

“Gua Sha increases microcirculation local to a treated area, and that increase in circulation may play a role in local and distal decrease in myalgia (muscle pain). There is an unidentified pain-relieving biomechanism associated with Gua Sha.”

A new pain-curing therapy that regenerates damaged nerves, relieves pain, and stimulates the body’s own natural healing response. Safe, injections are very superficial. Fast Results. Only natural substances are used that are found within the body.

Significant results are seen in as little as 2-3 treatment sessions. The procedure is quick and effective, most treatment sessions last around fifteen minutes.

Physical manipulation effectively aligns bones and can alleviate pain instantly.

Nutrient IV’s bypass the gastrointestinal system, which has many benefits including:
-zero reliance on your gastrointestinal system for absorption (most people have compromised nutrient absorption due to gastrointestinal pathologies and disturbances).
-greater amount of nutrients can be absorbed by the body (Intravenous threshold for certain nutrients like Vitamin C is much higher)
-nutrient intake can be controlled (with no concerns of getting too much or too little, we cater the nutrient bags to your needs)
-speed – the nutrient goes in immediately!

Cupping is also used to help in alleviating anxiety and depression. The cups create a vacuum effect to release soft tissue adhesions of the skin, fascia, and muscles. It is used in sports (as seen lately in the Olympics) as a form of preventative recovery. Regular cupping treatments can help alleviate muscular hypertonicity which leads to pain and muscle dysfunction.
